free find friday!!
While doing that photo shoot with the VW Van I spotted this in a trash heap nearby!
I obviously risked tetanus and rat sightings to save this awesome piece from the trash!

Fridge makeover
When I moved into our apartment here I knew I wanted it to be colorful and fun and maybe a little over the top.
I'm living in the Caribbean after all, no one around here is afraid of color!!
I got the idea to cover my fridge in contact paper when I saw a roll of purple paper at the dollar store in the US.
$1!! my kind of makeover.
You could do any color or print!!
what an easy and cheap way to transform your kitchen!

What I Wear Wednesday
I'm horrible at taking pictures of my outfts....
I'll blame it on my small house & lack of a good space to do so, and the neighbors always being around so I feel silly doing it outside. and I don't even usually like what I wear here. comfort and coolness come first unfortunately. haha.
I also dislike re-wearing things. I very rarely re-wear outfits the same way or at all...
but since living in Grenada on a super limited wardrobe I've found the things that I really like and enjoy wearing more frequently.
like this white dress from Target. I call it my go to dress.
it's classic, doesn't make me sweat, and I can switch it up with a belt and shoes...
Do you have a go to dress?? or some other article of clothing that you know will always look great & fit the part??

bottle vignette
vignette - a small decorative display
this project was: recycling, cheap, and fun.
3 of my favorite things.
I have an awkward space above a row of cabinets that divides my kitchen and living room (if you call 5ft x9ft a kitchen)
I am always trying to switch it up and make it look interesting.
The space usually holds my conch shells and sea fans, but I am attempting to smuggle them back to American with me this week, so they are wrapped nicely and packed away. and the space was left empty.
I had a bunch of glass pop bottles I had been saving (Grenada doesn't recycle and it nearly kills me to throw away a glass bottle.......... )
So I decided to try something out with them and this is what I ended up with!
all you need is glass bottles, water, and food coloring! :)

America the beautiful.
I don't think I've mentioned it enough, if at all...
but I am going HOME TO AMERICA on WEDNESDAY!!
OH HAPPY DAY!
My sweet husband was tired of hearing me say I was homesick and/or sad of missing the Memorial Day Parade in my hometown so he said just go!! and I am!!
I can't wait to see my family & friends & my home & church! eee!
There are so many things I am excited for that I almost feel like a bad person.
one shouldn't look forward to shopping and eating this much.
but I am guilty as charged.
I can't wait to tell you all about my adventures in America when I return in just two short weeks....
but I have set up enough blog posts to get us through the next two weeks! sheew
I have also been working on making sure there is enough food in this house to last two weeks and enough clean laundry as well.
you may think I'm crazy.... but it's medical school that's crazy!
my Lee doesn't have a spare minute to think of anything other than pathology let alone worry about food or clean clothes.
so I'm trying to be the good wife and make the next two weeks as easy as possible on him, while I'm living it up in the states and he's here slaving away.
What is your favorite freeze ahead meal??

Confession: I'm a Gleek
I recently started watching Glee because I heard John Stamos was on it.
Who doesn't love Uncle Jesse??
I also find it comforting to know that most of the cast is 24 yrs old and still play high school students, I'm not that old yet!
I don't want to get into many other aspects of the show, sometimes I don't like it, but I do like the music, the clothes, and the black globe in the principal's office :)

blog button!
I finally tried my hand at making a blog button (yea picnik!)
I don't exactly know what I'm doing, so let me know what you think!
I've posted it on the right side ----->
Also, question - has anyone gotten a malware warning when you come to my blog??
Someone told me they did, but I did a scan of the website and tried it from 2 different computers and it was fine.... so I don't know what that means.

color explosion
you may notice my blog looks different.
yea, I messed something up and had to re-do it, including making a different header b/c my old one was lost when I had to reformat my computer. I like it though. sweet and simple-ish.
and I'm seriously going to actually learn how to do html stuff someday.
here are a few things I've pinned this week.
color crazy.
rooms I'd love to live in, but my husband would hate.
he'd be happy in plain white with 0 clutter. he married the wrong girl.

Art class with kids: following instructions
My art class has about 12 students in it, so it should be quite manageable, right?
well there is one child who tests me repeatedly.
In order to make him more involved and attentive for the entire hour long class I came up with this project to get them to follow step by step instructions, to learn about horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines, and to show them that there is no wrong way to do art and even when we all follow the same steps we come out with very different outcomes!
They all started with a blank piece of paper and I gave them the following instructions:
1. draw 3 vertical lines
2. draw 2 horizontal lines
3. draw 1 diagonal line
4. draw one large circle
5. draw a triangle
6. draw 3 small circles
7. draw a square
then I said fill one space in with dots, fill one space in with stripes, with numbers, smiley faces, squiggle lines, zig zags, color one in completely, etc.
Every once in a while I said fill one in with anything you want and they got so excited!! I was impressed to see their creativity too. Some filled their space with question marks, sunshines, their name, hearts...
and it fill up my entire hour time slot and kept their full attention!
whew.
