I don't really love Oreos but when I saw these in the store (an end cap at the check out - great marketing tactic) I HAD to have them... and.they.are.delicious.
They taste kind of like dunkaroos, remember those?
I am such a 90s kid.
I bought them in Canada and haven't seen them in the store here in Ohio, but I haven't exactly been searching. If you see them and you like Oreos even a little bit, buy them! I got the package for $2.50 Canadian and they were worth every penny.

Superbowl food!
Last year my husband and I were in Grenada and he was studying all day and I still made lots of special food for the two of us to enjoy and I think we only watched the 2nd half...
Anyway, this year I'm home and I think at least my parents will be here for the superbowl and I'd love to try some cute little finger foods!
From chef-in-training.com
From foodpeoplewant.com
From addapinch.com
From tasteofhome.com
I'm having a serious craving for mozzarella sticks.
What are you making for the superbowl?
Do you like football or just the ads?
or just the food? :)
Don't forget about the giveaway going on now!!
Happy Monday!

homemade donuts!
I got a huge craving for donuts the other day so decided to just make some!
I found a great recipe at http://allrecipes.com/
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/crispy-and-creamy-doughnuts/detail.aspx
Have you ever used all recipes? I love it because you can adjust the serving size & it changes the recipe for you! so easy and perfect when you're cooking for 2!
This recipe for donuts makes 18, so I cut it in half and only made 9 (which made 10) and they turned out so amazingly delicious, but takes quite a bit of time for the dough to rise not only once, but twice!

this is after the dough rose in the bowl, and then I cut them out to let them rise some more!

my makeshift deep fryer :) I also baked a couple of the donuts to see the difference but they didn't turn out nearly as good.... duh! grease & fat tastes better!

I glazed some using the glaze recipe on allrecipes.com and rolled others in sugar
If you have a couple hours to devote to donuts on a Saturday afternoon I highly recommend this recipe!

natural SPF
since I've been spending so much time in the sun lately I thought I'd share something I read on foxnews.com about foods that naturally protect you from the sun & it's effects!
Tomatoes, Watermelon, and Berries - contain the antioxidant lycopene which reduces your skin’s sensitivity to sunburn.
Spinach - contains antioxidant which destroy free radicals in the body
Broccoli - is involved with collagen production
Carrots & Sweet Potatoes - darken the skin & protect it from the sun
Green & Black Tea - lower the risk of squamous cell carcinomas
Omega 3 (fish) - lowers the risk of getting Melanoma (a deadly type of cancer)
Dark Chocolate - reduces the reddening effects of UV rays
Good thing I just started liking fish & broccoli huh?

broccoli again.
I'm trying harder to eat more vegetables.
Up until the age of 18 I only ate cooked carrots, peas, corn only on the cob, and potatoes if they count.
that's it.
then I met my husband and he opened my world to salad. only caesar for about a year... and then more.
then spinach in a salad, then onions and peppers, cucumbers and lettuce on sandwiches.
and now our journey has brought us to broccoli.
I hate broccoli. it's gross. it tastes like eating a tree.
but it's good for us and so I bought it.
I made the most amazing pasta (if I do say so myself) the other night with broccoli in it. In a pasta you can eat things you wouldn't normally you know, you can garlic & parmesan cheese it up so it doesn't taste too much like a tree.... but tonight I'm looking for more ideas for broccoli that don't involve smothering it in cheese.
Broccoli and Quinoa
Pasta like I made. so good!
& then there is this one... haha! I can't think of anything more disgusting!
