black, white, and striped

I was inspired by these lovely lamps to divulge myself into some black and white stripes.
I painted my bathroom (at my parents, which I guess is no longer "my" bathroom) a couple years ago with black and white stripes and decorated it in pink, Paris, and poodles. no pictures though. and my Mom wouldn't be able to take them and send them to me, much too technologically advanced.
black and white stripes are so classic and beautiful.

Designer Spotlight A-Z: Kelli Ellis

You may have seen Kelli Ellis on HGTV, TLC, or Bravo... she's a pretty popular girl!
I'll spare you too many details, you can check out her website
she also has this thing called The Kelli Kit... I'm still undecided about how I feel about it. 
on one hand I think it's great that she wants to teach people how to do things themselves and yaddi yadda, but I just really hate the website.  I think it looks like a bad infomercial (which is what it is, yea?)
I'll let you decide for yourself.... and on any account Kelli is a great designer!

Color Duo: blue and red

This has always been one of my favorite color duos.
In junior high I may have had red bunk beds and blue walls with white stars sponged on...
This week I have really been homesick for America.
Although red and blue don't have to shout Americana!! 
but if you're not married to a Canadian like me.... shout away!!! :)

I particularly like vintage-y robin egg blue and red together.

VW van inspiration

This week Amber and  I are going on an adventure to an abandoned VW van I spotted on the side of a road for a photo shoot!
It is actually in pretty great condition, aside from the weeds growing inside :)
and I've only ever seen it from a moving vehicle.
but I'm excited!  and it's turquoise!!
I've been scouring the internet for some photo inspiration
I'll be sure to post the pictures when we're done :)

decorating with beach finds #2

One day exploring our neighborhood I found this old blue metal dish in a ditch.  I instantly grabbed it up and my husband told me to put it down, I wasn't bringing any more junk home, besides it was rusted and had a hole it in.
Oh ye of little vision.
It would obviously make for a perfect display of some of my favorite beach finds!
so glad I don't listen to him.

these are my newest finds of the week!! eeek! a tiny baby starfish. so sorry he died (I swear I found it dead) but won't he look beautiful somewhere in my house!
