What I Wear Wednesday {Transition to Spring}

there is a joke about Ohio saying that it's one of the few places where you have to use your heat and your air-conditioning both in the same day.
those days are here.
SPRING!
I love spring!!
but I need some clothes to sorta transition from hot to cold all in one day.

I love this jean trench coat I got several years ago.  It's lightweight, but still keeps me warm in the chilly mornings and is a little bit dressier than your typical jean jacket so it's good for work!

One trend I am loving for spring is oxford shoes.
I think it's still a bit early to bust out the sandals.... so sock-less oxfords are perfect!
I have been seeing them everywhere and really wanted a pair at JC Penny the other day (when I was buying my $20 coat) but resisted because they were $40 and I didn't need them..... but much to my amazement a pair showed up at the Salvation Army in just my size! And they're the real vintage deal. AND they were TWO DOLLARS!!!

And this fun bright colored plaid shirt?  I bought it at Goodwill in the 9th grade and have kept it all these years because I absolutely love it.  It's short sleeved so I threw a sweater on.

Other things I'm wearing to transition to spring?
skirts and light weight scarves... but I don't have a picture of those.

What I Wear Wednesday - Layering over Dresses

I only have 2 photos this week, and I don't even think one of them is from this week...
Good news is I got my camera today!! My friend Cat has been letting me borrow her back-up camera for a couple weeks and I've been so  thankful, but I am THRILLED to have my own camera again!
I think it's stressful borrowing someone else's things, don't you?

Anyway, I'm so bored of all my clothes and there are no new options in sight until December... so I decided to play around with layering the clothes I've already got.... when the temperatures in Grenada allow it.  (I think it's around 100degrees today and 1000%humidity. serious)

Sunday mornings I can usually wear something a little different than usual to church.
1. it's an excuse to get slightly dressed up
2. the church is usually around 70degrees with all the air conditioning.

I have this super bright Isaac Mizrahi floral dress from Target that I love.... but I'll admit, I sorta stick out in it.  I decided to tone it down a bit by layering a black tank top and belt over it & loved the result! I'll probably never wear it alone again.

please excuse the poor self-timer attempt.

In keeping with the layering theme I was playing around with a couple of my maxi dresses and trying to come up with more of a "fall" look.
I figured I could just turn my dress into a maxi skirt to keep up with the trend, right?  add some plaid and my new necklace I made and bam its fall in Grenada!
Yay for new life out of old dresses!

blurry face... and perhaps this outfit makes me look pregnant? too flowy?

As you can tell I've kinda been stuck on the side bun. and side braid too.  It contains all my hair and keeps it off my neck.  and looks slightly better than a normal bun... right? :)
In December I am getting a new dramatic hair cut. for real.

What I {would} wear Wednesday

I've been seeing all these new {is anything really new though?} fall trends all over the internet and magazines and I've been daydreaming about wearing these clothes.... rather than my 2 year old, over washed, cut offs and tank tops.

1.  White jeans for fall/winter.
I have a pair of awesome white jeans waiting for me at home!  I will totally be wearing those once December rolls around. Maybe I'll look a little like this. {thank you Jesus that tall boots didn't go out of style while I was off in the Caribbean, I have 10 lonely pairs in my closet at home just begging to be worn over white jeans!}

2. Tall boots with socks.
I was always that girl that loved knee socks.  Channeling my inner school girl I suppose.  In Ohio in the wintertime I may need to layer my tights and knee socks or my jeans and socks like this adorable girl.

3. Plaid
I don't know if it is the country girl in me but I have always loved plaid.  Plaid and cowboy boots! So for me it's never really in style or not. I still wear it!  Maybe I'll style it in up in the form of a maxi skirt {big for fall}

4. Polka Dots
This is kind of like plaid for me... I never stopped wearing it.  I'm a 1950s girl at heart!
I'm pretty excited about the perfect polka dot scarf that I have waiting for me at home though.

5. Wide legs
So thankful that I never get rid of anything!  I still have about 4 pairs of wide leg pants from when they were really popular a few years ago {before skinny took over the world} and bonus I have white wide leg pants!

And the jury is still out on the following... probably because I don't own any of these things and I'm just not sure I love it yet.

Over / Not Over

Are you sitting down??

I have a confession.

I. Kelsey Coghill. am feeling OVER. pinterest.

ugh. I'm sorry.  I just feel so over-exposed to so many trends/themes/ideas that I begin to hate them.
and I feel as if none of us are ever going to have an original thought ever again. myself included.

don't get me wrong. it is most definitely an open tab right now on my browser.  I go there probably twice daily.

But it got me thinking about what things I am over and what I"m not over yet.
and where will these images come from?? pinterest duh. built in source citing.

OVER:

1. Keep calm & whatever

I never liked  this actually.  I think it was the crown.  I've never been a princess-y girl.  But this has been done so so many times and so many different ways with so many ridiculous phrases.

2. owls

Source: piccsy.com via Fay on Pinterest

I never liked the owl craze, I do think these owls are cute, but when they are every where... it ruins it for me.

3.  mustaches

I just plain never understood this. and don't like it.

OVER : but wish that I wasn't but someone else ruined it for me.

1. Chevron Stripes

and the faux animal heads (or real) thanks Candice Olson for that one. I normally would really like chevron stripes, but like everyone in the world has them in their home and it cheapens it for me.

2.  Sunburst mirrors

Source: hgtv.com via Allison on Pinterest

Isn't this pretty?  I do think it's pretty, but everyone and their brother has one!  I missed out on this one being out of the country.... maybe I'll find one at the goodwill after everyone has gotten rid of theirs and proudly hang it up :)

3. Silhouettes

and by silhouettes I mean stuff like this. dogs. I like silhouettes of actual children or what not.

Not Over Yet :

1. Birds

Source: etsy.com via Kelsey on Pinterest

I'll probably never be over birds because I liked them way way before it was trendy. honest.  But you probably won't catch me painting them on my wall anytime soon.

2. Maps and globes

Source: tumblr.com via Kelsey on Pinterest

this one is lasting for me. I love maps and globes and travel and the world. period.

3. Gallery Walls

the more the merrier!!

4.  Painted floors

I have always loved and dreamed of having a floor just like this ever since my older sister painted the stairs in our old house. someday...

 5.  Letters and Ampersands

Source: bhg.com via Ali on Pinterest

so maybe I am over all the writing and letters directly on the walls (vinyl letters) but I am in no way over wood or metal letters. especially ampersands. &&&&& love them.

So there you have it.... my personal opinions.
If you have a house full of owls and chevron strips floor to ceiling I will not judge you. promise.  As long as you don't judge me for having every available walls space filled with frames and birds ;)

What do you think?? Anything you can't stand anymore and/or would never put in your house??

What I Wear Wednesday

perhaps I've been in the Caribbean for too long.... but I still love to rock a Maxi dress.
I usually like them in bold colors and patterns.
BAM!

and I'm 5'11... much easier to pull off the Maxi for me than it is for the 5'3 girl.
Nothing against the 5'3 girls out there... I'm totally jealous of your ability to wear rompers and one piece bathing suits!  my torso is too loooooooooong to get the material to stretch! ugh.

 my beautiful husband
James Bond themed party
 1. Black Print - Target
2. Blue strips - Lauren Conrad
3. Crazy Print - Target
4. Purple - Target
5. Electric Blue - gift, no clue where its from.
I've been reading a lot online and in magazines about the long skirt, or maxi skirt trend... and I have to say I may agree with these guys over at Glamour
I'm not a fan. Why do I like long dresses but not long skirts??
Maybe I'll change my mind the same way I did with leggings, skinny jeans, gladiator sandals.... esh. a lot of things.

What do you think about long skirts? for them?!
What about my maxi dresses? time to retire them?

I linked up with The Pleated Poppy , No Model Lady , and For the Love of Blogs :)
and after seeing those girls, I've seriously got to work on my fashion photography skills. self timer will be come my best friend.
